Black Dark Chocolate Cake
Deep, dark and rich, this cake is the perfect base for an array of icings.
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup black cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 eggs
- 1 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 tsp vanilla extract
- black food coloring if desired
- 1 cup hot water
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 8" pans.
Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, vanilla and food coloring. Once thoroughly mixed, slowly add the hot water until combined.
Divide into the two prepared cake pans.
Bake for 24-32 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean.
