Pound Cake with Blood Bool Raspberry Glaze
In his voice she hears mad jubilant relief, as if he has fixed everything. “And not just any bool, it’s a blood-bool!” She has never heard the word before, but she doesn’t mistake it for anything else, for boo or book or anything else. It’s bool, another Scott-word, and not just any bool but a blood-bool.” Stephen King, Lisey’s Story Tweet Share on facebook Share on twitter Share on linkedin Share on pinterest Share on email Share on google I'd like to think Stephen King would enjoy this dessert. Lavender Lemon Cupcakes
Lavender plays such a subtle but powerful role in The Four Winds. It’s the scent of clean sheets and Elsa’s mother. It’s the color of a soft baby blanket and the sky at dawn. It’s the homemade soap that the Martinelli’s made and sold to survive. Hannah expertly wove the sweet significance of lavender throughout her book and I knew that I had to embrace it. Screwdriver Orange Sticky Buns with Vodka Glaze
There wasn’t a lot of food suggested in Blindsighted but I love a challenge. As soon as I read the screwdriver quote, I knew that I would somehow be incorporating vodka, orange juice and a southern breakfast dish. Pecan sticky buns make me think of Georgia. And so, voila- Screwdriver Sticky Buns. I literally had to slap my husband’s hand away from the steaming bun to get this picture. He took one bite and declared this a Christmas morning tradition. Out of the blue, Sara said, “I want a screwdriver.” Jeffrey frowned at this but he walked over to his toolbox and rummaged around. “Phillips?” “No, a drink,” Sara answered.…

Apple Cider Donut Holes Recipe with Caramel, Apple or Maple Whiskey Filling
Apple Cider Donut Holes with Apple Pie, Caramel, Whiskey Maple filling….. This Orlando girl misses fall. To me, the best part of fall is the apples (besides going back to school. Yes, I have always been nerdy!) Apple picking and fair foods like apple strudel and hot apple cider bred nostalgia. Here in Florida it is hot and summery. So I celebrate the next best way I know how- baking with apples. These apple cider donut holes are AH-mazing! Alone they are delicious but filled…..it just hits different. The whole batch was gone in less than 24 hours and that’s even without the hubby home to help. (He was out…

Guest List Red Velvet Cake
When I read the Guest List, I knew almost immediately that I would be baking a wedding cake. Did you know that red velvet gets a natural slight red tint from cocoa powder?? Of course, it’s become standard to add coloring to get the deep velvety red that we know and love. Have you tried this recipe?? I’d love to hear your feedback. Please comment and rate! Sven’s Swedish Christmas Cookies
These traditional Scandinavian cookies taste like Christmas. Buttery with hints of warm spices, they go perfectly with a hot beverage. I took the liberty of decorating with white piping which I believe is more of a German tradition. This dough is more workable after being refrigerated for at least one hour, but preferable overnight. Ingredients 1/2 cup butter 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup brown sugar 1 egg 1/4 cup dark corn syrup 1 tsp ginger powder 1 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp ground cloves 1/4 tsp salt 1 3/4 cups flour 3/4 tsp baking soda Mix ingredients together. Refrigerate the dough for at least 1 hour. Roll out dough to 1/4″…
