    Strawberry Beet Smoothie

    August 30, 2021 / 0 Comments

I detest beets. I have tried- roasted beets, shaved beets and goat cheese, borscht. The strawberries make this one palatable, even to me! Share on facebook Share on twitter Share on linkedin Share on pinterest Share on email Share on google A glorious sense of well-being spread like honey throughout Lars’s body. “For most of you, your last smoothie contained both a dosage of LSD and a liquid form of psilocybin, a naturally occurring substance found in certain mushrooms.” Liane Moriarty, Nine Perfect Strangers Tweet Healthy and delicious! Ginger Apple Kale Smoothie

    August 30, 2021 / 0 Comments

Kale and smoothie?? I promise, this one is tasty. With all of the pineapple, ginger and mint you’ll wonder where the kale went.  Share on facebook Share on twitter Share on linkedin Share on pinterest Share on email Share on google This afternoon’s smoothies were all the same emerald-green color. Spinach? thought Frances with alarm, but when she took hers and had a sip she tasted apple, honeydew melon, and pear, with undertones of moss and bark. It brought to mind a walk by a babbling brook in a dappled green forest. She tossed it back like tequila.” Liane Moriarty, Nine Perfect Strangers Tweet Healthy and delicious! If you like…

    Fried Egg and Prosciutto Slider

    Tea and Berry Scones

    February 13, 2021 / 0 Comments

Why have I always thought of scones as dry, crumbly, tasteless things that 18th century lords and ladies ate in their stuffy parlors? Goodness, these things are actually heavenly!! As a nod to all the tea times in Pride and Prejudice, I was inspired to make a tea glaze to drizzle over these scrumptious scones. Warm, soft and bursting with berries, they are a tea drinkers delight. Share on facebook Share on twitter Share on linkedin Share on pinterest Share on email Share on google “By tea-time, however, the dose had been enough, and Mr. Bennet was glad to take his guest into the drawing-room again, and, when tea was…

Screwdriver Orange Sticky Buns with Vodka Glaze

    November 5, 2020 / 0 Comments

There wasn’t a lot of food suggested in Blindsighted but I love a challenge. As soon as I read the screwdriver quote, I knew that I would somehow be incorporating vodka, orange juice and a southern breakfast dish. Pecan sticky buns make me think of Georgia. And so, voila- Screwdriver Sticky Buns. I literally had to slap my husband’s hand away from the steaming bun to get this picture. He took one bite and declared this a Christmas morning tradition.  Out of the blue, Sara said, “I want a screwdriver.” Jeffrey frowned at this but he walked over to his toolbox and rummaged around. “Phillips?” “No, a drink,” Sara answered.…

Brooklyn Lox and Cream Cheese Bagel Balls

    October 22, 2020 / 6 Comments

These Bagel Balls are so fun! They’re a NYC deli stop in a bite. Smokey lox, cream cheese and briny capers surrounded by chewy everything bagels create a classic taste in a fun new way. These are also great for on the go eating in the car. My bagel sandwich comes up for pickup. I take the white paper bag, thank the woman and make my way back down toward the water. Brooklyn Bridge Park is less a park and more a stretch of grass. The benches are full, and I pop down on a rock, right by the water’s edge. I open up my sandwich and take a bite.…

    Kya’s Blackberry Jam

    October 17, 2020 / 0 Comments

She twisted the cloth bag with the jam so that it was wrung tight and knotted against the jars. As the boys drew even with the thicket, she swung the heavy bag and whacked the closest one hard across the back of his head. Ma’s Fluffy Southern Biscuits

    October 17, 2020 / 1 Comment

Kya insisted on keeping the old wood-stove, firewood piled next to it, because it heated the shack, but mostly because it had baked a thousand biscuits from her mother’s heart. Delia Owens, Where the Crawdads Sing Tweet Share on facebook Share on twitter Share on linkedin Share on pinterest Share on email Share on google These southern biscuits are rich and fluffy, just like Kya’s ma used to make. Owens mentions biscuits so often throughout Crawdads that I had to indulge. Now, they are a staple around here on the weekends with our eggs and bacon. I hope you enjoy- they come from my heart! I made these for Where…

Apple Cider Donut Holes Recipe with Caramel, Apple or Maple Whiskey Filling

    October 11, 2020 / 0 Comments

Apple Cider Donut Holes with Apple Pie, Caramel, Whiskey Maple filling….. This Orlando girl misses fall. To me, the best part of fall is the apples (besides going back to school. Yes, I have always been nerdy!) Apple picking and fair foods like apple strudel and hot apple cider bred nostalgia. Here in Florida it is hot and summery. So I celebrate the next best way I know how- baking with apples.  These apple cider donut holes are AH-mazing! Alone they are delicious but filled…..it just hits different. The whole batch was gone in less than 24 hours and that’s even without the hubby home to help. (He was out…

    Hidden Surprise Pancakes

    September 26, 2020 / 0 Comments

Hold up! This is seriously going to up your pancake game! Weekend breakfast has never been more fun. On the outside, they’re just regular fluffy pancakes but cut them open for a splash of color! These are a great start to the day for birthdays and holidays. The trick to these, as you will see below, is to make the baby, colorful pancakes first. That way the insides are guaranteed to be cooked and fluffy as well as the outside pancake. If you are averse to food coloring, try mixing in fruit such as mashed blueberries or pureed strawberries instead. Have you tried this recipe?? I’d love to hear your…
