Travel

Sometimes I love a book so much that it inspires me to explore the setting. Other times, I am traveling anyway and I happened to have read a book that takes place where I am going.

Jojo Moyes is a powerful writer. Her book was so complex and full that I wanted to learn more about the pack horse librarians of Kentucky. I researched different areas and found a wonderful little mountain town, Beattyville, KY.

Delia Owens is simply masterful in her literary grasp on nature. This book transported my mind to the marsh and I just wanted more! I loved every moment of this journey to Southport, NC. It really is a magical town and so reflective of Where the Crawdads Sing.

The Nerdy Gourmet

Hi friends!! I’m Jenni, The Nerdy Gourmet. I love books and I love food. Combining the two with a splash of travel has become my passion. I am a self taught cook/baker and I believe that everyone can cook from scratch! I’m here with recipes and Nerdy Tips to help along the way.
I review books, mostly ‘read’ via audio, and I create recipes inspired by the story lines. Sometimes if I am deeply moved by a story, I will travel and try my best to experience the book- and bring you along via my blog! I provide all the photographs and content for the Nerdy Gourmet (unless otherwise noted).

Hi Jenni, I heard your husband Greg talking about your new blog and so I thought I would check it out. It’s great! The timing was perfect for discovering your site. I just finished reading “The All You Can Dream Buffet” by Barbara O’Neal. It was a wonderful book and is about the lives of four foodie bloggers who become friends. Had I not read this book, I probably would not have been inspired to view your blog. If you haven’t read it, you definitely should. You will have a much better appreciation for its content that most. Happy reading!
