    Holidaze Spiked Cider

Apple cider and smoked maple bourbon create a warming holiday beverage that smells like maple syrup and tastes like Christmas.  https://youtu.be/OGpPUB09ADY I take a deep drink and wow, Andrew does not mess around– this is not “heavy on the juice.” I’m surprised that flames don’t flicker off my tongue when I exhale. The Toolbox

This is a slight twist on the classic orange juice and vodka Screwdriver. With the addition of Cointreau and cranberry juice, it’s a little easier to get hammered.  Share on facebook Share on twitter Share on linkedin Share on pinterest Share on email Share on google Out of the blue, Sara said, “I want a screwdriver.” Jeffrey frowned at this, but he walked over to his toolbox and rummaged around. “Phillips?” “No, a drink,” Sara answered. She opened the freezer door, taking out the vodka. Karin Slaughter, Blindsighted Tweet A splash of red cranberry juice gives this traditional cocktail slightly more depth. Killer Chardonnay Spritzer

Our wine making protagonist in the cozy mystery Killer Chardonnay would probably have a big issue with this recipe. But spritzers are great, especially for moms who don’t drink often or for a light evening when you want to make that bottle last longer.  A man was poisoned. The Sticky Mickey ~ A Lincoln Lawyer Cocktail

The drinks were flowing, though I maintained my sobriety, drinking orange juice on the rocks with a few maraschino cherries thrown in for style. Moira, the bartender, relieved at not having to testify, was calling the concoction the Sticky Mickey, and it caught on, though most of the others in the bar were taking theirs with a couple shots of vodka in the mix. Michael Connelly, The Law of Innocence Tweet This cocktail was inspired by a drink described by Michael Connelly in his book, The Law of Innocence. You can purchase Michael Connelly’s courtroom thriller here from Amazon or if you’d like to support small bookstores, it’s also available at…

Screwdriver Orange Sticky Buns with Vodka Glaze

There wasn’t a lot of food suggested in Blindsighted but I love a challenge. As soon as I read the screwdriver quote, I knew that I would somehow be incorporating vodka, orange juice and a southern breakfast dish. Pecan sticky buns make me think of Georgia. And so, voila- Screwdriver Sticky Buns. I literally had to slap my husband’s hand away from the steaming bun to get this picture. He took one bite and declared this a Christmas morning tradition.  Out of the blue, Sara said, “I want a screwdriver.” Jeffrey frowned at this but he walked over to his toolbox and rummaged around. “Phillips?” “No, a drink,” Sara answered.…
