The Law of Innocence Book Review ~ A Question of Integrity
I have been reading Michael Connelly for ages. He is by far one of my favorite authors. He’s definitely my favorite crime fiction author. My husband and I have co-read all of his books together and he was one of the topics on our first date 12 years ago. That’s probably why I’ve been dreading this review. Chessboard Cake
This cake is a stunning centerpiece for any dessert table. The chessboard pattern will impress even the most calculating connoisseur. I love challenging myself to find and conquer difficult recipes. The Queen’s Gambit Book Review ~ Chess Moves that Moved Me
I must admit, when my husband suggested this as our next Netflix binge I was iffy at best. An entire series on chess? How completely boring, I so wrongly thought! This series was so fascinating that as soon as I realized it was based on a book by Walter Tevis I had to read it! The book did not disappoint. Smoked Ricotta and Quail Egg Ravioli

One by One had me hooked on the food front within 20 short minutes. The delectable gourmet food that chef Danny kept rolling out was palatably enticing. Screwdriver Orange Sticky Buns with Vodka Glaze
There wasn’t a lot of food suggested in Blindsighted but I love a challenge. As soon as I read the screwdriver quote, I knew that I would somehow be incorporating vodka, orange juice and a southern breakfast dish. Pecan sticky buns make me think of Georgia. And so, voila- Screwdriver Sticky Buns. I literally had to slap my husband’s hand away from the steaming bun to get this picture. He took one bite and declared this a Christmas morning tradition. Out of the blue, Sara said, “I want a screwdriver.” Jeffrey frowned at this but he walked over to his toolbox and rummaged around. “Phillips?” “No, a drink,” Sara answered.…

I am a nerd.
Share on facebook Share on twitter Share on linkedin Share on pinterest Share on email Share on google I am a nerd. I’ve always been a nerd. I think I realized I was a nerd in middle school. My gawky glasses were getting annually thicker since second grade. This was the year when I started reading everything I could get my hands on from Encyclopedia Brown to Little House on the Prairie. I accepted being a nerd when I was 29. I dated a guy who said I was so curious and that being intelligent and being a nerd was super attractive. He’s long gone but I like to think that…

Evidence of the Affair Chocolate Mousse
Light but oh so rich, this mousse will make you cheat…….on your diet. Chocolate mousse has to be one of my favorite desserts. Ever since my 8th grade French teacher, Mrs. Moran, made us mousse au chocolat in class, I have been in love with this decadent dessert. I am however not a mousse purist. I cannot mentally make myself eat raw eggs so in my version the eggs are tempered. Rich and creamy, the key to this mousse is to take it out of the refrigerator 30 minutes before eating. I know the original reason we took up a correspondence was due to you seeking out the letters from…

Evidence of the Affair Book Review ~ An Engaging Exchange
Taylor Jenkins Reid could write an obituary and I would read it. I found this short story to be a sweet and realistic glimpse into troubled relationships. Brooklyn Lox and Cream Cheese Bagel Balls
These Bagel Balls are so fun! They’re a NYC deli stop in a bite. Smokey lox, cream cheese and briny capers surrounded by chewy everything bagels create a classic taste in a fun new way. These are also great for on the go eating in the car. My bagel sandwich comes up for pickup. I take the white paper bag, thank the woman and make my way back down toward the water. Brooklyn Bridge Park is less a park and more a stretch of grass. The benches are full, and I pop down on a rock, right by the water’s edge. I open up my sandwich and take a bite.…
